Join Narrm (Melbourne) based artist Michelle Culpitt for a workshop on a sustainable photographic process that dates to scientist Mary Somerville’s experiments in the 1840s.

Associated with the exhibition ‘Her X mark’ at Sidespace Gallery, Salamanca Arts Centre, nipuluna (Hobart) Lutruwita (Tasmania)

Michelle’ practice is research and process led, within the fields of expanded photography and media, She has been active since the 1990s and researched, experimented and made unique anthotype photographic prints using locally available plants over the past 15 years.

Michelle has made anthotype photographic prints relying on the flora and weather while artist in residence in Garramilla (Darwin), Annamaghkerrig, Ireland, Iceland, Dja Dja Wurrung Country in the Chewton Bushlands, Central Victoria, Narrm (Melbourne) and most recently at Kelly’s Cottage while a Salamanca Arts Centre resident in nipuluna, 2025.
